With the aim of assisting schools lacking in basic resources, the School Development Project was launched in 2014 by the Association selecting, Sampathnuwara National School located at Welioya in Mulativu District about 166 Km form Anuradhapura.
The Association over the period of last 3 years has provided the school with infrastructures resources, educational aids, facilitation to conduct extra classes for the students who are studying in grades 9, 10 and 11.
The percentage of passes of students at the GEC O/L Examination is increasing year by year from 2015 - 2017 specially in the main subjects ie Maths, Science and English which the Association assist for conducting extra classes. The best results achievers in every year were awarded scholarships in cash and one student is at present pursuing higher studies at Musaeus College. The opportunity was awarded by the President of the Governors of the YMBA.
Considering the progress of the school the Association decided to extend the Development Project for further there years.
The School Development Project was further expended by selecting two more schools with the assistance and recommendation of the Ministry of Education. The selected schools are Wedamulla Maha Vidyalaya at Kelaniya in the District of Colombo and Ankumbura Madya Maha Vidyalaya in Kandy. In addition to provide basic needs to the schools, Association is giving helping hand to the students in similar grades that of sampathnuwara by providing additional classes.
