Dhamma

Comprehensive study of the Buddha's core teachings, Suttas, and ethical conduct for daily life.

Abhidhamma

Delving into the higher metaphysics and psychology of Buddhism. A challenging but rewarding study of the mind and matter.

Pali Language

Learning the scriptural language of Theravada Buddhism to read and understand the Tripitaka in its original form.

Class Schedule

Classes are conducted parallelly in both mediums. The annual series concludes with an examination in June, where successful participants are awarded certificates.

How to Apply

Paper advertisements are published at the end of every year for new intakes. However, anyone desirous of learning can apply to the Secretary, Dhamma Examination Branch to join ongoing sessions.

A Legacy of Learning

Teaching Dhamma has always been a core activity of the Association. In the early decades, Abhidhamma classes were particularly well-attended.

We pay tribute to Mr. P. Mahanama, a deeply versed scholar and member of the Dhamma Examination Committee, who conducted English Abhidhamma classes with great success. Following a brief hiatus, the Board of Management revived these classes in 2011 under his guidance, ensuring that the light of higher Dhamma knowledge continues to shine for new generations.
