Established to combat youth unemployment and uplift the socio-economic standards of the Gampaha district, the Divulapitiya Vocational Training Institute (VTI) stands as a beacon of opportunity. Since 1991, we have transformed the lives of thousands of young men and women by providing free, high-quality technical education.

A Strategic Joint Venture

Since 2006, operated in partnership with the Vocational Training Authority (VTA) of Sri Lanka.

  • YMBA: Provides Land, Buildings, Machinery, Vehicles & Equipment.
  • VTA: Provides Curriculum, Instructors & Certification.
What We Offer

Training Programs

Courses are designed for youth aged 17–22. The curriculum consists of 1 Year Institutional Training followed by 1 Year On-the-Job Training (OJT).

Motor Mechanism

Comprehensive training in automotive repair, engine maintenance, and diagnostics using modern tools provided by YMBA.

Lathe & Metal Fitting

Precision machining and metalworking skills. Our workshop is equipped with industrial lathe machines supported by donors.

Electrical Engineering

Training in Light Electrical Work (AC/DC), house wiring, and basic electronics repair.

Carpentry

Woodworking skills, furniture making, and joinery. Students create practical items during their training.

Industrial Sewing

Specialized training for females in dressmaking, flower making, and industrial garment production.

Life Skills

Beyond trades, students learn agriculture, maintain the gardens, and participate in Buddhist activities.

Our Journey

1974

Vocational Training Institute set up at Rajagiriya to address youth unrest.

1991

Relocated to Divulapitiya to support poverty alleviation in Gampaha district.

2006

Strategic partnership formed with the Vocational Training Authority (VTA) of Sri Lanka.
